What Is The THINKWARE Cloud?

by Shopify APIJan 09, 2020

It's more than you think!

The app previously known as the THINKWARE Mobile Viewer has upped its game and updated the app to include a notification and monitoring system, changing its name to the THINKWARE Cloud.

What exactly is the “Cloud”?

Well, first things first, don’t think of this app as just a storage system for files like most companies use it for. The THINKWARE Cloud is way more than that. Think of it as a literal cloud, floating over your car equipped with a THINKWARE dash cam, monitoring and alerting you all activity happening in and around your vehicle when you are away from it.

Since it monitors your vehicle activity remotely, it allows you to receive your car’s location & receive notification alerts on your iOS/Android smartphone in real time!

The Cloud works with the F800, Q800, and U1000 cams.

Cloud Features Include:

Vehicle Location
Locate Vehicle will help drivers, parents, or fleet managers to find a vehicle’s current location using the THINKWARE CLOUD mobile app. Captured by the dash cam's built-in GPS antenna, the vehicles’ location, speed, and direction of travel is shown in the mobile app on a Google Maps display.

* GPS data refreshes every 10 seconds

Geo Fencing
Geo Fencing allows parents or fleet managers to be updated on vehicles’ comings and goings. The dash cam will send a push notification through the THINKWARE CLOUD mobile app if a vehicle enters or exits a pre-selected geographic zone. The radius of the zone can be set easily by simply tapping on the Google Maps display and selecting the desired radius, from 100m all the way up to 600km. Users can set up to 20 different geo fences.

Safety Notifications
Get alerts live to your smartphone!

Driving impact: Monitor any impact to the vehicle while it is parked to catch any hit-and-run driver in the act while you are away.

Incident reporting: Monitor and capture any motion around the vehicle for potential vandalism attempts.

*The THINKWARE Cloud uses your cellular data to operate and send you notifications. You must turn on this feature on in order to activate the Cloud and access files in the THINKWARE Mobile Viewer.

Mobile Viewer

The 2nd half of the THINKWARE cloud is the original version of the app, Mobile Viewer. This in short is where all of your video clip files live. These digital files are kept in the cloud for 48 hours (depending on the amount of footage collected). Footage no longer in the Mobile Viewer, then use the microSD to download the footage you need. In order to access your digital files through the app, you must be connected to the dash cam's built-in wifi. The easiest way to do this is while in your vehicle.

*If you want to access remotely, you must enable the Hotspot connection option, using your cellular data to operate.

When entering the Files section of the app, you will see your clips are divided into 7 Categories:

Continuous: Drive time footage, broken up into 60 second intervals.

Continuous Incident: Singles out the entire incident while driving that your dash cam's built-in accelerameter registers as an "impact". Recording begins 10 seconds before incident, until 10 seconds after.

Motion Detection: Footage while car is in parked mode, where there is any movement around the car.

Parking Incident: Footage while your car is in parked mode, recording the entire time (or however long motion is occurring in and around vehicle) an "impact" incident occurs to your car. Recording begins 10 seconds before incident, until 10 seconds after.

Manual Recording: A recording where you manually pressed the record and stop recording button on your dash cam. Files are broken into 60 second intervals

Downloads: Any videos you have downloaded from the categories above.

Navigating apps today can be rather annoying when there is new terminology, but we hope this easy guide to the THINKWARE Cloud app will help you to get the most out of your new dash cam.
